First photo is a "Drake Gadwall"...believe the second is a Yellow-crowned heron...nice images!!

1. Female American Widgeon (it was a small duck, yes?)
2.Does appear to be a Yellow Crowned Night Heron

A key to the duck identification is the bill - blue with a black tip - on a medium to small-sized duck. Female American widgeon.
