Batch re-name app for MAC?

I shoot sports, almost exclusively soccer, and want to find an app for MAC that will easily rename a batch of photos. Many apps in the apple app store, but who knows the quality of each one. Looking for recommendations and also would like a reasonable price.

Batch rename works easily and well in Lightroom Classic CC. Recently watched a video on that subject on YouTube. Search “Lightroom renaming files”, “Renaming files on import” or similar topic.

I'm rather surprised Jerry didn't include A Better Finder Renamer - goofy name but very easy to use - I've been using it for almost 10 years myself.

I could never find an app, so I just use Finder. Select the files you want to rename, you can use command or shift keys along with left side of mouse or one finger tap on track pad to select any number of files quickly. Right click or two finger tap on track pad then find Rename in menu and click it. That brings up a small form that allows you to select the part of the name you want to replace and another blank that allows you to type in what you want to replace it with. Click the Rename button and done, simple and quick.

While viewing all your shots in Bridge at once, select them all, then go up to the Bridge menu and choose: Tools > Batch Rename. Fill in your values in the dialog that opens and click Rename.

I second this. It works very well and does not require a 3rd party app. In addition, when you alternate-click on a multiple selection of files one of your other options is to create a folder from them.

Easy to use. We must have found it about the same time. Still works after all the system updates

Looked at Jerry's link. My only complaint is that it doesn't include time as a parameter in the renaming. I always put date and time into the filename. For one thing it ensures uniqueness. For another thing it tells me right away when I took a shot. My memory doesn't include dates nor times.

Lightroom can rename on download from your card and it can use date and/or time, but the time is limited to 1 second granularity. That will not handle fast burst shots. Subsecond timing exists in the EXIF data (at least there is an assigned tag for it if your camera uses it).
