Loc: Netherlands
Info:
Castle Anholt may be just one kilometer across from the border near Arnhem to Germany , the castle is bursting with Gelderland (Province of the Netherlands) history.
That has everything to do with the noble family Van Bronckhorst that Burg Anholt got the possession during the Middle Ages.
The current resident of Burg Anholt is Fürst zu Salm-Salm.
He is descended from the old Gelderse family Bronckhorst-Batenburg from the Netherlands.
Their family archive and the collection of paintings are still kept on Burg Anholt.
The castle was rebuilt in baroque style around 1700, but was rebuilt in its original style after the damage of the Second World War.
The Dutchman Duco van Krugten has been working for more than 40 years for the restoration of the gardens and the park, naturally in close cooperation with the current resident and owner; Prince of Salm-Salm.
Nice digs. Great photos also.
