In my opinion, it's always safe to upgrade to Mojave. I've done so with a number of Macs of varying ages and resources, and have never experienced a glitch.

The caveat, in my opinion, is that if you have apps that you use and rely upon, check with their authors to see if they are or have Mojave compatibility.

Thank you.

Held off upgrading until this week based on the posts here. Upgraded my MacBook Pro 15", i7x4, 2.7Ghz, 16GB main mem, 512GB SSD, then applied a few updates to Adobe Creative Cloud apps including both Lr and Ps. Played with it for a while with no problems.

Sounds good.

Best way to find out if your softwares are compatible would be to contact the manufacturers. It is probably stated on their web site.

I adopted Mojave as soon as it came out. Retina MBP Early 2013, NEC PA272W external monitor. No OS or monitor issues.

I use the Adobe Photographers plan, PS, Lightroom Classic and also the Creative cloud version, Portfolio, Bridge. No problems. Fast Raw Viewer works ok. Even Nikon crash-ware Capture NX-D and ViewNX-i seem to work as well as they ever did.

I don't have any Microsoft software on my computer so I can't comment on any of that.

I upgraded both my MacBook Pro and an iMac to Mojave when it came out and have had ZERO problems.
I use Lightroom Classic CC, Photoshop, Luminar 2018, Aurora HDR daily and had no issues.

Go ahead and upgrade.

You sound quite confident! Thanks.

I think you’ll find Mojave operates smoothly, certainly has on my 2012 27” iMac. However, if you’re like me, you would have been receiving notifications from Apple whilst running the last High Sierra software that 32 bit software would not be compatible with the 64 bit Mojave. Most software suppliers would have been working on their products to update them to run on Mojave. My only problem was Microsoft, I had the old 2011 Office program which was not 64 bit and the software did not work. I went on eBay and bought the 2016 Office software for next to nothing. Downloaded and installed it as instructed, then followed the update to 64bit instructions and it works fine.

Thanks, MikeT9. I believe all of my photo programs are 64 bit. However, I do have the same problem with Office. Actually, it doesn’t work on High Sierra.

I have had no problems upgrading, but I do not think any updates have been released for those that did.

Thanks Rab-Eye.

I installed Mojave just after release. No probs on installation or with all my important apps running OK. All my photo apps work perfectly. I run AlienSkinX4, ON1, Luminar, Iridient Developer & Silver Efex Pro 2, Franzen Sharpen etc. Iridient issued an update yesterday which I instaled and is working fine and I'm waiting for the Luminar update on 18th December. My machine is a late 2012 MacMini running 16Gb ram so I think it will be a breeze on your machine. I really like the Dark Mode. Have fun.

II did and it FUBAR'ed my machine. I had to deinstall Mojave and restore from a back-up drive without it. I'm not going to do it again.

It's not common! Just make sure you back up immediately before trying it.

I did both MBP and 2015 iMac a month ago, I now get intermittent Bluetooth lost connection with iMac. I had to reload Mojave os after continuously getting BT issues. Seems to have fixed the issue by reloading os and resetting BT module.

Adobe Application Manager is now out of date and needs updating, might just delete it to see if it won't affect LR 6.1.

My upgrade worked fine from the start. I have heard that with every upgrade, some have problems. I know that I did with Sierra, but no problems with Mojave, although Honestly, I don't use any of the new features. The next upgrade supposedly will be a major one

If you have concerns about any of your software programs not working properly, you can always partition your HD and install Mojave on the 2nd partition. You can then reboot using the Mojave partition to see if everything works as it should. If so, there should be no issues upgrading the original startup disk to Mojave.

Ha I did that with Lion, the only MacOS I have ever reverted from. When Lion came out I tried it but I kept using the old OS. What was it? Snow Leopard back then, or Tiger? Anyway I used the previous OS until after they fixed the full screen function. Occasionally I would boot Lion and try it.

It's not entirely trivial, the tricking doing that is you have to point both OS's to the same data then some program updates will work with the new OS but not the old and you have to sort that out. It's much simpler if you just have one OS on your computer.

Spoke to them yesterday, the 6th. Told me there had just been an update. Had a bad experience with High Sierra and vowed to wait s year, but will probably update now.
