Ravens have 17 primary wing feathers. These feathers are called Pinion feathers. A crow has only 16.

Therefore, the difference between a crow and a Raven is simply a matter of a pinion.

There is another criterion that has to do with the tail feathers.

The way I tell is by the beak. A crow has a pointed one, a raven thicker and more Roman shaped.
