I was at our daughter's early this morning and saw a great story about a couple of policemen (I believe from Bedford, TX), who handled a situation very well. They were called to a residential neighborhood about a disturbance. Upon arriving they found a couple of black young men playing basketball, the goal was on the curb and they were mindful of traffic. After talking the the young men a few minutes, a basketball game broke out. Two on two, two young black men against two white cops. What could have been a tense situation became an enjoyable session for both pairs. I believe that if this happened more often the hostility that we have seen over the last years would certainly be reduced.

It happens all the time. But the media usually isn’t interested in reporting such things. An old media truth is, “If it bleeds, it leads!”

Unfortunately, very true!
A couple of black men playing basketball?! Call out SWAT!
People are ridiculous. Good for those cops.

So the media is also to be praised for reporting good news.
Person calling in the "disturbance" should be prosecuted.
The real story here is why the cops were called in the first place, the “disturbance” was two African-Americans playing basketball. That says a lot about at least one local resident. The cops were cool, as most cops are, most of the time.
You can read stories like this every day in every paper published. It's just that hate has a bigger draw than love. But then, who is responsible for that? Every one of us.
That's a great story. It's a shame we don't get to hear about more of them.

Unfortunately in some departments they would have been chewed out by their sergeant for goofing off on company time, or having sweaty uniforms. But all of you are right; they deserve praise and it would be nice if it happened more often. That is what helps community relations and shows the police in a good light.
And here in the People's Republic of Portland someone is being sued for saying "blue lives matter."
