What a great topic, love them all! The cat in the sink needs to be a poster and the kitten climbing the wall!!

We have one dog, a 12 year old goldendoodle who is the best dog ever. She constantly brings me things to ask if she can eat them. Sometimes it is actual food like her treats or a pack of crackers, last week it was a picture frame still in the box - no idea what she was thinking! Our cat is 13 and crazy, but gets along well with the dog as you can see in the picture.

OH Sue, I loved all of the photos and the one of the two of them together was just great. Our Male Aussie used to follow our cat around all the time making a "umm, umm umm" noise as he would follow her down the hallway. When Sasha had her stroke, she had gotten herself stuck behind the refrigerator and Caiden would not leave the fridge and was making that noise to alert me that she was back there. I kept telling Caiden 'there is no way Sasha is back behind the fridge' but low and behold she was. He was heartbroken for days when we lost her. I'm so glad you shared your sweet pets with us, brings back memories. You have a beautiful babies!

Meet Maggie, my ten year old miniature Dachshund. Unfortunately she has three slipped disks. She was paralyzed the first two times but she's a trooper and fought her way back to health. The third disk is a different story.

Here she is pictured in my Laz-Boy with a training pad under her because she never recovered. We actually took her to her doctor with the expectation that he'd advise us to put her down. Instead, he prescribed some meds and she can walk a bit now, though she has never regained her continence and requires constant care, which I am happy to provide.

She has given me ten wonderful years of companionship and unconditional love, and medicine has bought me a couple of those years. I must have 1000 images of her. I lost my lab mix to cancer a while back and I regret that I have so few videos and captures of her. I'm not making that mistake again.

Broncomaniac, your Maggie is just a little darlin and I'm so sorry she has had so many back issues. She sounds like an incredible girl, and as you mentioned, a true fighter. You go little Maggie!!! Thank you so much for sharing her with us, I do know what you mean about taking those photos. I use to be really bad about getting photos of my pets, but recently had a friend who knew she was going to have to put her pet down soon. I volunteered to get photos of her and her dog for her, because we all know there is just never enough time with them. We both shed some tears, but I was so happy I did this for her. It was hard, but she has photos to look back upon on her sad days to bring her comfort. Keep on snapping and I look forward to seeing more of Ms. Maggie

(sorry about the eyes--don't know what happened there)

I have enjoyed seeing the furrbabies of everybody. I have cats (obviously) but I do like dogs--I just don't have the space for them, or the ability to care for them properly. (Cats pretty much take care of themselves and just need to be fed, watered, and have litter boxes attended. I have hired help that does that for me when I'm traveling.)

All the pictures are gold quality. I'll spend hours looking at them all again and again.

I've been a dog lover|owner sometime after I returned from Germany, where I served in the US Army from early' 46 to November of '48 during The Occupation of Germany. While stationed for a few months in my soon-to-be German War Bride's hometown near Heidelberg and Mannheim, I spotted a couple of darling longhair Dachshunds lying on a doggie pillow on the doorstep of one of the restaurants. That was my first introduction to this lovely, sometimes comic, breed that captured my heart.

After my bride's and my return to the USA, and after my recall back to military duty during the Korean War, and final discharge, over the years we shared our home properties with several smooth hair Dachshunds.

Early in 1990 quite by accident, I was browsing the Internet looking at Dachshund websites and saw two longhair beauties to be surrendered by a young couple who had one toddler, with another baby on the way. Fortunately, my property and my wife and I passed the property check, and soon two gorgeous, friendly, well-trained sweeharts became part of our family. We've "rescued" another set of longhair Dachshunds, since. Let me make it clear, too, that all of these dogs, at my advanced age, have rescued me, too. lol

Here are pictures of Doc (the black and tan) and Oliver, the (brown with touches of black).

hasslichhog, your Doc and Oliver are beautiful and I love the photographs of them! They are precious and I do know what you mean about your dogs rescuing you. I'm a firm believer that all things happen for a reason. Penny came into our lives at a time when we really needed her. My boss found her in his yard, and the gentleman I worked with was dying from cancer. Penny came to work with me the week before he passed everyday and kept my boss and myself occupied just wondering where she came from and why "now" My boss was 80 years old at the time, and was just heartbroken to be losing not only a great employee, but a wonderful friend and we always count Penny as our little blessing. Your fur family was meant to be and I'm so glad you all found one another. Give them all a big hug from me.

She is such a sweet girl and so very lucky to have you to take care of her. I'm sure she brightens up your life all the time. I had a mini Aussie years ago who suffered with seizures, it broke my heart to see him like that, but I would do it all over again if I could in a heartbeat. They become our heartdogs, and I never regretted a moment of it.
Hug your baby for me.

I can't think of any animal over the years which has consistently given such comfort and companionship to humans like dogs have. Over the years we've read true stories of dogs lying on the floor beneath its owner's casket at church ceremonies, and refusing to leave. I'm so touched by the ultimate companionship that can develop between a dog and its human buddy. Like the K9s and service dogs. The marvelous hounds that can track a human by just smelling some clothing. And, all they need is some food, a pat on the head and a kind word or two.

The true stories of dogs rescuing humans; especially, the dog's sensory capability of sensing diseases in their human companion.

A poem I copied some years ago seems to me to capture the essence of dog|human energy thing.

A Stump For A Tail
(by Unknown author)

You can't buy loyalty they say,
I bought it, though the other day.
You can't buy friendship, tried and true.
Well, just the same, I bought that, too.

I made my bid, and on the spot
I bought love, faith, and the whole job lot
of happiness. So all in all,
the purchase price was pretty small.

I bought a single trusting heart
that gave devotion from the start.

So, if you think these things are not for sale,
buy a brown-eyed puppy with a stump for a tail.

Hi All,
I love my pets very much and love to do pet photography. I work a full time job and don't get a lot of practice time to practice my pet photography but thought I would share my gang with you and hope to see your pets too!
A little bit about my furry family:

Caiden is my 11 year old Tri-colored Aussie who introduced me to the wonderful world of dog obedience due to being a puppy with no "shut off valve" and my threatening to give him back to his breeder on a weekly basis I love him dearly, but man those were some rough puppy years.

Karma is my (10 year old-the end of Dec.) Blue Merle Aussie who is my smiley girl. She LOVES everyone, was a therapy dog for almost 4 years and can't get enough of being around people. We've done some competing, but that wasn't her cup of tea, she is happiest when she is with people.

And then we have Penny, our little throw away mixed Shitzu/Terrier. Someone dropped her at my bosses house, and she joined our family at 8 1/2 months old (we guesstimate) in heat, with nails that looked like they had never been cut, but whoever had her, lost out big time. She is a great little girl, who will be 5 on the 13th and she has numerous ribbons from various competitions that we both enjoy participating in.

I'm also including Sasha our cat, who we lost a couple of years ago due to a stroke, she had just turned 16, and we miss her a lot.

All they all have brought me enormous pleasure over the years.

Thanks for letting me share them with you, and I'll hope you'll share your's!
