I'm with you. I'm from the Vietnam era, and while I did not serve (no, didn't dodge the draft...lottery # was high), I NEVER disrespected the soldiers who served. I had some friends in college who thought it was "cool" and "revolutionary" to taunt these men as baby killers. I was not one of them.

My son served meritoriously in Iraq, helping to liberate and hold Fallujah. He's 100% disabled.

And what people probably don't understand is that your son and others put their lives on the line to help protect Iraqi citizens as well. But even in countries where there is no warring going on, our soldiers are targets just because of the uniform. All are heroes.

What this trashing Bush's WWII record. He was the real thing. Which is hard to belive today, with someone like the Moron running things.

I suspect people are just ignorant when it comes to history. I watched a Senate hearing once where Senator Daniel Inouye was questioning a witness. I don't even remember who the witness was or what the hearing was about, but the guy had the stupidity to accuse Senator Inouye of being unpatriotic. I could tell that Senator Inouye wanted to get up and beat the guy with one arm, because he had lost the other one in World War II, fighting FOR America He was a Japanese American by the way. Mr. Bush joined up voluntarily, even though his father urged him to go on to college instead. He was the youngest American fighter pilot in WWII. Plus, like many others who served, he never bragged about his service. He simply considered it his duty as an American citizen.

I didn't think President Bush was a GREAT President. He voted against the voting right act (which he later regretted and made amends for), screwed up in Iraq by not finishing Hussain (a screw up by his own admission), he was dirty (involved with Iran Contra Scandal), and he screwed up the economy royally. But I never, not once, thought he was ever anything less than an American, a patriot, and a servant to his country. He was the last Conservative to give a damn about the middle class. And I always thought he would be a great guy to have a beer with. My flag will be at half-staff this week to honor this man of selfless duty...just as it was for John McCain.

More fake news. Truth be told, none of this happened? How would anyone know the crew was eaten? Bush, a hero, probably not. Just like is coward name sake son. Facing death a hero does not make. I faced death many times in Vietnam and I an no where close to a hero. Heros are people that save lives not take them ! People giving of themselves in working with the elderly, disabled, and mentally challenged!

RIP George and be ready to face your maker and answer for your choices!

Nice and snarky, lib.

This was allegedly a thread to honor former president George Bush and his life of service to America. The anal orifices among us, on both sides of the aisle, should just shut their mouthes for a change and let him rest in peace.

I have liked this Ugly Hedgehog for the years of have participated here. I am curious where all this rudeness and nastiness
has come from. It is ruining the experience and valuable information that I have gotten on this site. Their is no reason to
call others names. Their is no reason to insult political people who have given service to our country.

Let me relate this to a kindergarten. We teach children to be civil and not call other children names.
My parents were helpful and kind to other people. They taught me to appreciate this country which was not
perfect but the best and leader of the world thinking.

Calling people "Liberal" as crazy people. Calling Presidents names is immature and shows ignorance. Not honoring an
American hero and outstanding President shows ignorance. "Conservative" means holding to traditional attitudes and
values and cautious about change.

I believe in both concepts. I think I am lucky to have some great people that keep the country and it's
people safe and moving forward. An open mind will keep you from insulting other citizens. If you can't exchange
ideas and listen to the founding fathers you are not understanding what America is about.

I agree wholeheartedly with your comment. I can understand, and have learned to appreciate, those with a different opinion - quite often I learned something in the process of polite debate; however, I also learned to
pity those who seemed to work at being the north end of a south bound horse because their contribution is almost always mean and contributes nothing - but an indication of the smallness of their mind.
