Cactus flower

I took this image in front of my house. I was attracted by the 3 stages of a flower's life that was depicted in one shot from buds to the full flower. This a Prickly Pear cactus. My wife and I made jam and syrup from the fruits. A horrible job but it sure tasted good!

Just take a propane torch and burn the needles off, then easier to deal with

Very nice. The light makes the photograph and you have a great eye for composition.

What we did was to boil the fruits and dissolve the spines. It works well when you have to deal with buckets of them.
