I'm curious, Spidey.... First, do you/did you have any other micro/macro lens in that range that you've shot with, and could make any comparisons? Reason I ask is that I had (and used) the same (or the similar? mine was the 60mm f/2.8 AF D) lens, and I eventually sold it. There was nothing wrong with it per se, but subjectively, I simply found results with my older, manual 55mm f/2.8 AI Micro-Nikkor just seemed sort of better. Second, don't be afraid to use your new lens much the same as you'd use a standard 50mm lens, for general shooting in a non-close-up/macro sort of way. They're really fine lenses.

I think you're right Ken. I had a macro extension tube set, but it was a real hassle. This is going to make close-ups a lot easier, and it is a sharp lens.

No Jim. This is my first micro/macro lens so I don't have anything to compare it with. I don't have any other prime lenses either. This is a new experience on both counts. I think that if I go out with only this lens, I will be forced to see just what it can do.

Nice shot Jan.

I've been thinking about that lens to use with the ES-2 slide copier. If you continue to produce shots like this I might be writing a check sooner rather than later.

Unless you are on a tripod 1/125th is too slow for any shot if you expect to see any benefit of a Macro lens. With the hi resolution possible now & then blown up in a computer you will be able to see differences in sharpness with different F-Stops & shutter speeds hand held or tripod. Run tests on
