Guess it goes back about 15 to 18 years ago when i purchased it, at the time was quite the camera, still use it!

Not that old, then, Pat ... turn of the century!!! ... Kew! ... I remember when writing that meant 1800s to 1900s ...

Now, it means - the turn into the 21st Century ... Wow!

Of course, Canon introduced the EOS system in 1986-1987 ... and their EOS 650 (their first Digital Camera) at about the turn of the century!!!

So, we've been at this now - just about 20 years ... doesn't seem possible, does it?

So, what was / is the res of your Kodak, then? ... About 3mp, or slightly less?

If i get on my feet soon looking at the Leica M10, got to keep it in the family, been using them since the late 60s, still my camera of choice.

Been laid up, then, have you, Pat? ... Sorry to hear that ... illness or accident?

The Leica M10-P is around $7995 (as listed) ... in this table ...

Too rich for my blood!!! ... My top is around a grand ... my D7100 was that when I bought it ... and my Sony a77 II was / is that, too ...

They're both fantastic cameras, but, lately ... I find myself using the Sony, more ... since my hands jerk a lot, lately, and the IBIS solves that!

Just looked dig cams up in the Canon table ... didn't see the EOS 650, but here -

Canon EOS DCS 5 (1995) ·
Canon EOS DCS 3 (1995) ·
Canon EOS DCS 1 (1995) ·
Canon EOS D2000 (1998) ·
Canon EOS D6000 (1998)

The kodak was a full frame digital sbout 14mp.

About a yr and a half ago i managed to fall down a full flt of stairs in my sleep, still haven't completely recovered. Cracked about 6 ribs, fractured 5 vertibrae in my back, broken shoulder, foot, nose plus a brain bleed. Since they stoped distributing pain killers it left me pretty unstable. Waiting to see Neurologist and orthopedic surgeon to see if they can get me going faster.

Ouch! ... Just reading that, made ME hurt!!! ... So, you're a sleepwalker, then, are you?

Nasty!!!! ... So sorry!!! ... Hope you recover soon ... get some "Tylenol 8HR Muscle Aches and Pain" ... seemed to work for me pretty effectively after MY fall in the driveway in June ... was helping a couple of guys move a Nordic Track into my house - which one of them had given me ... was trying to get out of his way, turned quickly - lost my balance, and down I went ... cracked my head open, dislocated my shoulder, and screwed up a knee, and broke some ribs ... as one gets older - these kinds of things we shrugged off in our teens - are no kind of fun - are they?

No they sure aren't, i had to sell my house could no longer maintain it, too big and to much land. Had 23 acres, had to maintain about 5 acres, kept me busy all year. Lawns and landscape and pool in the Summer, leaves in the Fall, and snow and ice the rest of the year. We got hugh amounts of snow, usually started in Nov and went to April, weve had as much as 330 inches in a season. Now have a nice apartment and nothing to do, be 78 nect month so i dont think i will miss it much. We do miss the house though set back in the woods surrounded by nature and all kinds of witdlife.

I have three of them, now ... all SLTs - the beginner model - the a58, the earlier semi-pro model - the a77, and the upgrade - the a77 II ...

I honestly don't know whether Sony glass, is, in fact, Leica glass ... I know Panasonic Lumix models (some) sport Leica glass, but not sure about Sony SLT cameras. Perhaps, the E-Mount ones do, but, a-mount? ... Don't really know ... do know all a-mount Sony cameras are backwards compatible with all Minolta and Konica glass ... which opens up the possible choices to a thousand or so (possible exaggeration, but, still) ....

When I first got them, the about-face - away from non-IBIS bodies, and the change from OVFs to EVFs - was kinda sudden, and I didn't realize at first, one has to change - in some ways - old picture-taking habits, and that took some adjustments, so I was always nit-picking - to do with available light disadvantages ... but, now, I'm used to it, more ... I am VERY enthused about the a77, and a77 II - especially ...

In fact, even the a58 - is a pretty capable camera, too ... only 20MP - not 24MP like the other two ... but, hey! ... extraordinarily good pics!

I even added a Sigma EX 105 OS HSM Macro to the mix ... darned good lens ... works great on the a77 II, especially ....

Wow!!! ... That must have taken some kind of adjustment!!! ... Going from a house on 23 acres, to an apartment!!!

Couldn't you have downscaled on a smaller level? ... Picked up a smaller house on just a 1/2 acre, or something?

That's what I have ... a little more than that, actually - but, under an acre ... been here since 1973 ... very little maintenance is required, now.

We had our first snowfall, here, in CT - just two weeks ago ... but, nothing since ... Thank God! ... and the temps are gradually creeping back up now ... supposed to be 55 on Sunday!!! ... But, April is about the time, here - Spring finally materializes, and the snows cease ....

I know what you mean about the aging thing ... just turned 71 in July ... muscles are NOT what they used to be ...

Used to walk 5 miles per day - EVERY DAY ... I can only dream doing that, now ...

We were not sure if my problems were going to be permanent or not and didnt want to get a house i couldnt maintain so we took an apartment. Was able to make money on my house which was a big surprise, when i bought it paid 425 had it for 12 years and it appraised for 530, got 500. I moved a town away near shopping and medical facilities. In Camden where i lived too far from everything, medical care terrible, here i can walk to hospital if i had too. Being laid up all thia time has not only sapped my strength but i am putting on weight, no good. One of the reasons i like the Leica is its small, light and ectremely quiet, my property was loaded with deer, fox and wild turkeys the quiet shutter didnt scare them.

14MP - got it! ... That much, huh?

I have 14 on a couple of my bridges ... 16 on a couple of DSLRs - the Pentax K-50, and the Nikon D7000 ... seems to be adequate!!!

Heck! ... I only have 12mp on my first DSLR - my Canon EOS Rebel T3 ... look back on some of those, recently ... astonishingly good!!!

I think I started the upgrade battle - a little before I really needed to ... I see now some are picking up the old Nikon D700 (also 12mp.)

And the Pro Level D300s - which seemed to've lasted quite a few years, before the D500 upgrade ... was only 12mp, too ...

I suspect these sudden jumps to 36MP, 42MP, 46MP, 50MP - in FF cameras, are entirely unnecessary ... in fact - may even work against us!

My Goodness!!! ... Mine was just $46G in 1973 ... has to be worth ten times that now ... doesn't matter, really, as I'm not selling it ...

Want to hear something funny, Pat? ... When I picked it, in 1973, it was a toss-up between this one, and one in Danbury on Hospital Ave.

It was just a few hundred yards down the road from Danbury Hospital!!! ... Then, I didn't consider that factor important - but, NOW ....

There are plenty of deer here, too ... doubt there would've been in the city, though ... the occasional fox, too ... not many turkeys, though ...

One does tend to put on weight as one gets older ... more static, I guess ... regardless of being laid up ... which is why I got the Nordic Track!

The Leica IS a small camera, but, as can be seen from this list - there are others quite small, too - the Olys, Pannys, Fujis, some Sonys, too.

Heck! ... My little a58 is pretty small, too ... and that takes the BIG lenses, as well as the smaller ones ... it's pretty light, too (w/ the 18-55) ...

They really aren't necessary unless you plan on making hugh prints. My M8 Leica is only 10mp and producess 13 x 19 super prints. Years ago i invested a $1000 on a kodak digital printer, makes gorgeous 4 color prints, when it works had lots of problems with it syncing colors printed 1 color at a time, prints costly but high quality glossy or matte print on waterproof surface. My large prints on Epson 1280, ink jet prints hi quality up to 13 x 19. A nude i shot, believe posted on here was shot on film 50 years ago and digitised at 1000% @300 dpi produces fantastic 40 x 60 prints.

You mean - high MP Dig Cams aren't necessary, Pat? ... I suspect most of us will never make a print larger than 16x20 in our entire lives!

I made a couple of 20x30s a few years ago - from 35mm images - shot with a Canon A-1 ... will never do it, again, though ...

I also have an Epson ink-jet ... my regular printer ... not a dedicated photo printer, though ... 40x60, eh? ... Must cost a fortune to do that ...

Well, Pat ... I think you must be just getting up, huh? ... For me, though ... it's time to hit the hay ... so, I'll bid you adieu - for now ... g'nite!

Mine is, too, Pat ... and with that (the trees) go the squirrels ... there must be an army of them camped near here - got in once or twice, too!!!

The nice thing is - being pretty much secluded ... one doesn't get much traffic ... even Trick or Treaters manage to pass me by ....

The disadvantage - all the leaves - but I have a great way of dealing with them - I just LEAVE them alone! ... Great fertilizer!!!!

Yeah ... just caught your G'Nite, this morning!!! ... I'd already written mine ... I guess they must have crossed ...
