I shoot a D-800 Nikon with the 14-24 2.8. Super sharp on a good tripod. Happy Shooting.

If you only need this setup for a single job or specific shoot, why not check out Lensrentals and just rent the est system for your project.

I have the D850 and that will certainly cover most everything in photography. I absolutely love it. Many cameras would suffice, being at the right place at the right time is certainly the first step for any camera, but of course the higher end hardware has its advantages. Good Luck!

Given the above, I suggest a mirrorless camera:
If you need to print at sizes greater than 13"x19", get a Sony A7Rii camera and two prime lenses or a zoom lens with focal lengths of f/4 or above.
If you don't need to print that large, get a Fujifilm X-T2 and one or two prime lenses or a zoom lens with focal lengths of f/4 or above.

f/4 is not a focal length... it is an aperture....

I am not being intentionally vague for any of those reasons. I hope to be starting a new photo business (New to me) and have many options.
My professional background was 'old school' and did not involve any digital work.
My entry into digital started with a point and shoot. Approx. 8 years (Don't hold me to that time frame) ago I got a Nikon
5100. I've used it mainly for photographing
a children's sports program similar to
Special Olympics. I'm giving back to my community and do not charge for this.
The parents download and print at no charge. It's the most rewarding thing I've done in photography. By asking my questions here and receiving answers from
experienced users, I have saved years of trial and error. I'm 73 I don't have unlimited years. So, please don't read anything into my original question.

New wrinkle. I was about to say that I am a Canon shooter, but if I were focusing on landscapes I would choose differently. Depending on budget either Nikon (for reasons already laid out by several) or medium format.

But now we have Special Olympics in the mix. That is action. That is focus acquisition and camera/lens systems. That is Canon's strength.

I don't want to mislead anyone. My 5100
is fine for the kids sports program.
I am allowed to stand in the middle of the games (Baseball and Soccer) and I've
given the parents shots they've never had before. It's not a conventional game. In baseball, we could have 20 or more in the outfield. 'Everyone plays, Everyone wins'
is their motto. The program is called
'Challenger Sports' in Upper Township NJ.
One of the coaches pinned the name
'Photo Joe' on me. Before the games I do 'Trader Card' type shots. These parents have had enough expenses already.
I just want to give back. This higher quality
camera I'm looking for will not be used in the games. Totally different project.
Thanks Everyone!

Then a Nikon or a medium format.

Medium format will most likely, at least
initially, be out of my price range.
I'm not ruling it out though.

Interesting because I hadn't considered
a used camera.
Thanks.

Or a Sinar P3 as the OP is familiar with the view camera.

Check KEH.com and MPB.com, too. Both are used specialists.

You already have helped. Just having to think about a question helps the person answering by making them think about it in a new way or just think about an issue they have not revisited in awhile.
