A single question that calls for a single answer.... What was the best SINGLE advice you received when you started pushing the button?
Note: I did not type when you started as a photographer.
"FILL THE FRAME"
At least for me that was & continues to be the best advice
The 2nd best advice was to improve ones framing by visiting Art Museums to see how the gifted pros did it
Compose your scene properly in the camera first to maximize number of pixels used and the viewers attention. Too many people rely on cropping an image in post, which immediately lops off valuable pixels. Sometimes it can't be helped and saves an image from a less than optimal shooting position but cropping in camera can offer the most pixels dedicated to the clarity of your final image. You have to be flexible in any situation but cropping in camera always offers the most bang for your buck.

How the exposure triangle worked
Composition comes first. And, it still does. Nothing about the gear, settings or how you hold it come remotely close.

"Push the d@%m button already!" Yeah. That was it.
The easiest way to make money as a photographer is to sell your equipment.
