How many use a Wacom tablet or something like a Wacom to edit your photographs. If you do what is the advantage in your opinion?

Succinctly the best comment I am able to make is I felt as if my thoughts transferred directly into the image instead of relaying them through a Rube Goldberg contraption called a desktop computer.

Control. I find it to be precise when you adjust sliders. I had at first ordered the medium size model. Sent it back. I only needed the smaller one.

Exactly my experience too. The smaller sizes are so physically maneuverable that the artist is able to easily move them to their best viewing sweet spot along with most comfortable hand position. So kick back in a comfortable chair and enjoy the image enhancement process.

I'm unfamiliar with a Wacom Tablet and use an iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil. Is a Wacom Tablet better?
Advantages/disadvantages?
I know I can Google this question but I’m interested in what UHHs have to say.

Glad to see this post. Can anyone using the Wacom tablet share some good resources for training and video tutorials for the Wacom tablet?

I presently use the large iPad Pro and have found the weight to be a slight handicap. All else considered they are about the same but of course different products have different idiosyncrasies.

Photoshopcafe.com has a couple of (training) DVD's available. Also, check youtube, there are a whole bunch there. Matt Kloskowski also has one or two.

It convinced me to stay with my laptop and desktop computers for photo editing when I became interested in the Wacom.

I use the Wacom Intuos Pro Small. This is an excellent way to edit photos. They have discontinued the small, but with the medium you can "map" the amount of space on the screen you need for the image. The rest can be used for other things like an on-screen keyboard or an addition function menu.

There are several important advantages. One, the mouse tends to "jump" for no reason, the pen does not. The pen permits more precision for fine detail edits. The main limitation is the size of your computer monitor, which only applies if it is too small!

I must add, though, that getting it set up can at first seem like a very confusing process. Wacom's website does not have a very user-friendly format [in my opinion]. YouTube has a lot of videos, but a lot are repetitive, so a lot of time can be wasted finding the answers to your questions. One bright point is that the Wacom customer service is good - they have helped me several times. In the long run, once you figure out how to do the set-up, it gets easier to make changes. With mine I changed how I had things set up multiple times before I found an arrangement that suited me. It is a personal decision about assigning functions to the different controls. The other day, somehow my settings got reset to default, and it was quick for me to rearrange them back the way I wanted them.

Hope this helps.

For the record the Wacom tablet is an alternative to a mouse not an iPad. For me controlling brushes is a bazillion times better than a mouse.

I'm debating between the Wacom Intuos Art Pen & Touch Tablet Black (CTH490AK) - (Certified Refurbished) at $67 and the Wacom uPTH451 Small Intuos Pro Pen & Touch Tablet (Certified Refurbished) at $165. Is it worth doubling the price to step up to the Pro version?

Does your iPad communicate with your post processing software on your desktop or do you have load the images onto the tablet and post process them on the tablet.

I use a large Wacom Intuos tablet. I consider it a must for editing. The pen has sensitivity of pressure and when you blow a photo up to 300% for editing, it is much easier to use a pen than a mouse
