These guys fascinate me most of the time. Recently they've been carving out acorn storage in the wood trim on our chimneys and a few windows. I'd rather see them in photos than clinging to the sides of the house.

BTW Your photos are very nice.

Great set, you were lucky we only got one channel NBC.

Well about 3rd grade we got one station, by 5th 2, we moved away and then back to my hometown when I started 9th and we had the 4 stations. Most people still had their antennas on phone poles but at my Grandparent's farm their house was on the 2nd highest hill in the county so their antenna was on the roof of the farmhouse. Add in that one of stations in Paducah, Ky (NBC) built a broadcast tower that for several years was the tallest in the world off on the NE corner of Ballard County where we lived and reception got much better, no more phone pole needed. The tower is 1638 feet and in the community of Monkey's Eyebrow (real place, in fact there was Old and New Monkey's Eyebrow a short distance apart)

We had UHF and VHF to choose from, maybe 5 channels tops. PBS was a favorite.

Yeah, at one time PBS was good, then they went political.

Thanks. Acorn Woodpeckers are west coast, SW and Mexico to Central America birds. https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Acorn_Woodpecker/maps-range

I used my G1 with my 6D and a 7DII. Then I traded both cameras, the G1 and a 100-400 mk I for my 5DIV, 80D, 100-400 mk II and now the G2. I have tried the G2 with a Kenko Pro 300 1.4x and it works on my 5DIV but my 80D says no communication with lens. On the 5DIV of course no AF because of the f-stop. The Tamron extender may work or ??? Reach like that with manual focus should do well for stationary or semi-stationary subjects like perching birds.
Now the new Canon EOS R has f/11 AF!!!!!!!! If that AF system comes out on something like a 7DIII or a mirrorless replacement I may consider getting that body just for the f/11 AF.
Thanks. Acorn Woodpeckers are west coast, SW and ... (show quote)

Jerry, I got the same message with the Kenko Pro 1.4. I have not tried it on my 6Dii but will see if it works on it. Have a great balance of a day.

The G1 and the Tamron 180 macro both worked with the Kenko and on my 6D, 7DII, 5DIV and 80D. So I suspect it is something in the firmware of the G2/80D that is not compatible. Maybe having to do with the AF above f/8.0. I know some camera lens combos will just plain not work with the f-stop too much for the AF system. Others become manual.

These are putting nuts in the power poles and once I saw one pounding at a 4x4 on the swing set but it stopped. I guess the old swing set didn't meet the standards for hiding nuts.

Thanks
