Foggy Day at Wind Cave NP

One of our favorite places for "golden hour" and sunset photography is what we call "the Overlook" at Wind Cave NP. The Overlook is simply a small parking area on the side of a gravel road on a plateau that overlooks a picturesque valley. It is a well known location primarily to only locals so it gets limited traffic. Today, we were greeted with a sight we had never seen before. Snow had fallen overnight and since the ground was still warm, a fog was covering the valley allowing certain valley formations to pierce the cloud vail.

That is what makes landscape and wild life so challenging, you never know what is going to happen and that once in life time moment. Some luck as well as planning and being prepared when that moment comes and good luck at the right moment can make it all worth while and rewarding. Good job well done.

Very nice. In the first, I see a couple of deer, one of which is looking at you.
