The only grossbeak I have ever seen was perched on a ocotillo bloom last spring...probably migrating. Probably female due to lack of color.

Thank you Swamp-Cork. Yes the numbers of Evening Grosbeaks have decreased. I remember when I was young my Dad fed the birds and there would be flocks of 50-100. They do seem to be making a comeback in our area though. Nice to see.
