12.1 MP Sensor Question

I'm wondering about how good the Luminix FZ300 is compared to the Sony RX10 IV because of the 12.1MP sensor in the Luminix and the 20.1 in the Sony. Does anyone have these two cameras to say if the image quality is that big of difference. That Luminix is alot cheaper than the Sony

The two cameras are rated near equally in this study by CameraDecision.com. Long range, I think the much larger sensor on the Sony might make it the better choice.
