This store is doing business their way. They low ball products and wait for those that only see the $$$$ sign and that overshadows everything for that consumer.

I have bought three cameras and one lens from them, not a single problem, yes they are cheaper, very happy with what I got.
They will offer a lower price, then call you to try to upgrade you to something you should receive for free, like lens shades, etc. Things that should come in the box they remove and try to charge you extra for them. They bill you for merchandise they don't ship and then ship it when you finally cancel it. I wouldn't touch these guys again with gloves on. There are too many reputable dealers around (Adorama, B&H, KEH) to have to deal with people like this.
The last known miracle occurred 2018 years ago and it didn't come from Abe"s!!!!

Hi hogs. Do any of you have experience purchasing equipment from Abe's of Maine? Their website lists the Tamron 100-400mm F/4.5-6.3 VC USD for Nikon at $599, which is $200 less than Adorama, etc. Free shipping, no tax, etc. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Oops. I posted before I used the board's search function. Duh. Apologies.
The majority of my equipment was purchased in Europe or Canada. Some of my cameras are 50 years old. All taken care of and still working well. That may make most of them gray market. In the case of Abe's just understand that you will be getting gray market. I purchased from them several years ago and got good quality gear. Just understand why the prices are lower than the competition

Do they inform people it's gray market, or explain the difference? Not everyone knows. And if you have read the rest of the thread, you should know that isn't the only complaint against them. There are some good reviews also, so they don't screw over every last customer, but there are enough sleazy business practices reported to not take the chance.
With so many legit retailers why would you take a chance. Bought a big tv by Sony. Tried to deliver a Vizio. I wouldn’t let it off the truck. Had to fight for my refund. never know what they will send you.

Give me a break. There are new folks dropping in all the time. The questions will always be repeats. ---They answer the same math questions in school today as they did a hundred years ago. - the same music notes are taught every day- the same manners are ignored every day - this is a fun place to visit, not a courtroom for old stick-in-the-muds.
This is what happens when you ask a question
Hehehehe. Now I need coffee
If you want to know the difference between gray market and legitimate Nikon the list of approved Nikon dealers in United States that’s on Nikon website if they’re not on the list it’s coming from overseas
