It is always best to check. Neither option for being wrong is good. If you don't check and the limit is strict, you can't carry your camera. If it is larger and you opted for a utility camera, you may feel like you missed out.
And of course either error would leads me to being wrong according to my wife.
OK. Even if I checked and packed well, my wife would still tell me I was wrong.
