I am having some major problems using the select and mask on 2019. After making the initial selection it's doesn't cooperate with the refine edge tools and after making many attempts to use it today my "view modes" are all messed up. All my selections look like my picture. It's definitely not working like the youtub video's I have been watching.

Anyone else having this problem or is it just ME?

I have not had the problems you are having. However, in similar situations I have noticed two fixes. One is to make sure all your tools and layer options are okay, i.e. not doing something because of setting left over from a previous use. The other is a complete uninstall and reinstall, not a big problem with CC.

I have had about the same problem then I came across a solution (kind of) on the web. Make a subject selection using the “Quick selection tool” and then while holding down the shift key go to the select menu and while still holding down the shift key click on “Select and mask” This brings up the refine edge tool and its menu.
I know that isn’t the way it’s supposed to work but it gets the job done

FWIW - Downloading a new version of Photoshop CC 2019... just available today apparently....notes claim several bug fixes.

Thanks everyone, I have been on photoshop today and it does seem to work better. I did do the update yesterday hoping it would be a fix. Thanks again. Connie
