I'm not a poet but from time to time I think we all have a spark of inspiration. This is a small poem I wrote some years back and thought appropriate for today:
War
Cannons roar and armies march
and all the earth is shaken
Blood is shed on foreign soil
as our mother's sons are taken
Fight and live or fight and die,
do we really know the reason?
Time swirls 'round in endless flight
as all things find their season..

Also: “And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda”
Very nice; very appropriate for the date posted.
As Roosevelt said, “I’ve seen war. I hate war.”
