That's a lovely family portrait. You're right that the one to the right isn't razor sharp, but it's totally acceptable. I did some pixel peeping, and it looks like the one to the left isn't totally sharp, either. But at normal viewing distance, this will make a delightful enlargement. The baby is very cute.

Very nice group picture! If you hadn’t mentioned the focus on the farthest elephant I wouldn’t have zoomed in to investigate - it’s plenty sharp for viewing at normal distances.

Here is a photo of desert elephants taken in Namibia. I had to take it at f/18 to try to get enough depth of field. That worked pretty well for the forward three, but the last elephant appears a bit soft--but I still decided to print the shot. This is cropped to 8x10.

Such a wonderful capture, especially in download mode !! Nice work !! Who doesn't like elephants, especially in their natural habitat.

Thank you. I do not like to shoot that far stopped down for fear of losing sharpness--but given I was in defraction range already, I should have shut down even more. But the enlargement does look good at normal viewing range. We often worry too much about sharpness for real world use.

Thank you. My 16x20 looks pretty good if you don't stick your nose up too close. I am pretty critical--probably too much so.

I expect to hang it up tomorrow at my workplace where I am allowed to decorate with rotating photos. I am currently putting up shots from Namibia. Thanks for looking!

Thank you. I have had pretty good luck taking photos of elephants. It is pretty amazing to see them in the wild.

Thank you. All the trip was missing was a shot of a pangolin.

Thank you! It was a bit of work but I am happy with the result. I find animal shots challenging--but a fun kind of work.

Yes, great capture and the framing is spot on.
