The orbit of Mars has been altered by the Martians to bring it within close proximity to Earth in order to launch an invasion! It's begun...photographic proof!
Bwa ha ha ha ha ha!
Happy Halloween!
I did this in recognition of the 80th anniversary of Orson Welles broadcast of "War of the Worlds" on October 30, 1938...that and it's been raining here for the last couple of weeks and doesn't look like it's getting any better any time soon...so...time to play with pictures
The Milky Way image is one I did last year from the southern tip of the Everglades with my Nikon D810 and Nikon 20mm f/1.8 lens on a static tripod. The glow on the horizon is from the Keys. The planet Mars is one I did this summer as Mars approached opposition. I used a Meade 12" LX850 telescope, 4x image amplifier and Skyris monochrome video camera with an rgb filter wheel. The trick was blending it into the horizon of the picture. Lost a bit of the little detail that was in it (dust storm!) in the process but necessary to try make it look like you're seeing it through the haze. The Martian ships are the design used in the classic 1953 movie "War of the Worlds."
Nice. Really nice work.

Ohhh....
You remind me why I hate Photoshop.
An idle mind is the Devils Workshop.
But fun, John!
Fun and fanciful.
You probably need to move to Eastern WA...
John , that's really cool .
