Thanks Don. Seems I do not need a few of the new things you mentioned especially the slide show part. Since I am trained in audio/video I usually just make my own slide shows in Adobe Premier which beats getting a MAC with Avid on it. I would prefer the full Adobe Premier but just would not use it often enough to make it a worthwhile purchase. Back in slide days I made a few double projector shows for business and personal use. I still have the projectors and the device to cue them up with. As with most film stuff I have a lot of things on my shelves including a wooden 5X7 view camera that still works along with it's 4x5 and 5x7 backs and a roll film back to go with it all. Then again my 2 1/4 gear is on the shelves now too. It was great info sir.

I used to have Elements 9 but had to upgrade to 18 in order to support my new camera. From what others have said about 19 and what I've read, I see no advantage to doing an upgrade. Your approach makes sense.
I upgraded from PSE10 to 14 and see no reason to upgrade again until I year that Adobe comes out with a "real" upgrade that interests me. Almost all of my PP is done with PSE14 but I keep PSE10 because I don't have to fuss so much (and waste paper) when printing an 11" x 14" photo which my Canon PIXMA Pro 5000 MK II software doesn't support. That in itself might get me to upgrade.

I believe the Slide Show Editor in recent versions of PSE is a major step backwards compared to the one that was part of the earlier versions. Adobe opted to trash the legacy code and rewrite the software, but when they did it, they drastically reduced its capability and flexibility. In fact, in the beginning, I kept an older version of PSE installed just so I could use its Slide Show Editor.
Now Adobe wants one to use PRE 2019 or PRE in general for more sophisticated slide shows, targeting the existing Slide Show Editor for new users. Fortunately, there are many ways and programs to produce slide shows.
Those are two really great features that I couldn't do without.
