Great shots. I too, grew up near Yakima and had friends on the reservation. I'm glad to see that the horses are still there. The one in your shot seems to me to represent a time I thought was long gone. I'm thrilled to see that the res is still an experience rather than
just a place. It has been over 65 years since my last visit which included rounding up horses. The flood of memories brought up by your beautiful pictures have moved me greatly.

Thanks so much for taking time to comment. Yes, the horses are still very much there. Most appear to be in excellent condition although the last band I saw was really quite thin. They’re much more wary than many of the horses I’ve photographed due to lack of human contact. I do have a couple of additional photos I’ll post in the next couple of days.

All beautiful, Sally.

Last week, we visited Yakima, Washington not far from where I grew up. Although we'd made the drive between Yakima and Portland at least 100 times, I never stopped to take pictures of the Yakima Reservation horses before. Access is extremely limited unless you're a tribal member but fortunately, there were a couple of small bands near the river.
Autumn weather is in full swing in Portland, resulting in morning fog and gorgeous color in the afternoons. Your comments and suggestions are much appreciated.

Sally, I loved your images. I'm a sucker for fog and you did a wonderful job. I'm on the other side of the Cascades and in a small glen between buttes. We don't get a lot of this type of fog with color. We will most likely get frozen fog (hoar frost) some time during our winter months, which I enjoy photographing. Hope to see more of your images. Bev

What a beautiful set Sally. I love the first shot with the fog, and the second with the black water is stunning. The last shot is my favorite though. That horse is magnificent.
