Not to mention the tax will give thew politicians more to get their hands on. There isn't enough money in the world for those guys. No matter how much you give them they will spend or steal it. Just saying

Pay your fair share and everybody in your vicinity wins! The State of Wisconsin requires any “unpaid tax” to be calculated and ultimately paid when I file my income tax, so I never actually got a break when B&H, Adorama, Amazon, etc., were not accounting for it as they should have been.

They don't charge tax they collect for each state as was correctly pointed out by Linda from Maine. With the new ruling I believe from the Supreme Court, online retailers are required the collect each states sales tax. This has created companies who can keep track for the online retailer to collect and then pass to each states treasury. Without that kind of support it would be a daunting task for many of the smaller online companies.

People buy online for a variety of reasons. I do for the option to have a selection of products that I could never get at a local camera store even in a city as large as Charlotte. I do support the local camera store when I can but they don't offer nor are able to get some of the products I use and desire. There is more to competing than just being local...

Uniform taxes is the only way local stores can compete. If you live in an area like I do where you would need to drive 2 hours to find a real camera store you would not complain. Not just camera stores but almost all specialty stores suffer because people buy on line to save taxes.

Anyone should follow the tax laws and pay the legal minimum taxes they can. To do more is not in the interest of any taxpayer. That is what businesses and smart individuals do. However, for those who don't feel they pay enough then I encourage them to add taxes and send in more money than they owe...it is an option in many tax jurisdictions.

Will you release your tax returns to the public? If not then you have nothing to stand on...so don't cast the first stone. We have an IRS to oversee these issues and look for irregularities. Should we ask the President to unseal all the sealed records from Barack Obama too?

Seriously? There's no law requiring the president or any politician to release their personal tax records. The same with private citizens, in fact its a Federal crime to release another individuals tax records without their approval...If the IRS has no problem with President Trump's taxes (since the IRS audited them), we shouldn't either. If there were any violations, the IRS would be the first to prosecute, or they could call the government's super-special tax prosecutor, Robert Mueller. And we hear it over & over & over....Russia, Russia, Russia, its just too funny.

Received a notice from B&H about 2 weeks ago that they will be collecting sales tax on a future orders from the State of Indiana. I was in the process of ordering something from them, but decided to patronize Jack's Camera Shop in Muncie, Indiana and place my order with them. The items I purchased were discounted the same as B&H, I had a lengthy Q&A with a great in-house sales person, their tech guy checked-out a lens I bought on e-bay for free, and my overall cost was the same as B&H, except for the travel (50 miles) plus I got the merchandise the same day. I actually felt good about spending $300+ at the regional camera shop, and help support a small business with really nice and competent people. Good experience for me, and I hope for them.

I’m so tired of people complaining about taxes and then (in CA) complaining about the degredation of our infrastructure.

Like most of us who don't have a quality camera store nearby or within reason, on-line is the only choice. We had a quality camera, Southern Photo, that went out of business in 2017. Currently my nearest camera store is over 100 miles away in Orlando and I wouldn't fight that traffic for any amount of tax reduction. I'm sure if we had a 'quality' store near us I'd patronize it, however the nearest thing we have left is Best Buy, LOLOL. But now its B&H, their service is superb, at least for me it has been. Taxes....its a fact of life.

If as always this tax discussion "HAS" to become political then please take the time to consider a fundamental societal difference.

Our current President's taxable income is from business investments and their inherent risks. Thousands of people live off the employment these endeavors provide and they also pay taxes as well.

Our last President's income has always come from taxpayer funded public coffers of one form or another. Thusly, only a small number (many being friends and cronies) have ever been employed from his efforts and their wages also came from tax revenue as well. Instead millions live unemployed supported by public funded handouts for the purpose of securing votes to perpetuate the cycle.

Does anyone remember 2009-2010 when Obama supporter Warren Buffet made headlines by saying he paid too few taxes? I never heard a followup that he sent in anything extra to the IRS. Did you know that at the same time his companies were suing the IRS to avoid paying over ninety million dollars for that tax year?

Hypocrisy is rampent.

It is their job to determine how much and who should be taxed. After all it is in their job description. Which is to sit on your fat butt all day and think of new ways to spend other peoples money. Then, after a hard days work, go to a ball game on the lobbyist's dime.

If they reduced or eliminated sales tax, would you make the wise decision to pay to have that pothole repaired down at the end of the street? I think not.

Bill, you have to be kidding, right? We pay very high taxes and we have pot holes in most streets, the money isn't used there. Now for beautification and Lord knows what they spend our money very freely. It doesn't make much difference on which party runs your state either, when elected they become a party unto their own and they damn well know how to take care of themselves. As long as they keep us divided Red vs Blue they win. When I closed down my Photography business the state of Washington continued to tax me on my "Professional" equipment, they call it personal property tax, and went so far as to require me to notify them of who I sold any of my equipment to so they could tax them too. Took my accountant three years to write off all of my equipment.
