Can’t help you with a meetup, but I do have a comment about your photo. Please work on getting better with composition. The pole in the back and the handy capped sign distract from the birds.

Thank you I should have so I worked it a little bit in Lightroom 5.6 from the RAW

I agree with tdekany about composition. IMHO cropping up from the bottom to just lose the pole in the back, down from the top leaving about 1/3 of the sky, and in from each side within a couple of inches of the birds - then your picture goes from"just pretty good" to "really very good". After finishing this message, I find you've done a good job of cropping.
Much better picture, sgtill could use a bit of side cropping -IMHO.

Nice photo but is somewhat out-of-focus, either focused in front or was it hand-held, zoomed out 300mm at only 1/125 shutter? If so, 1/250th if not 1/500th is probably needed if not using a tripod.

Right. The handicapped sign is where my eyes went first.
