Maybe the coyote was still looking for that top row of chickens that got scrapped off the truck before it ran into the feed mill in downtown Pagosa Springs - - from a song about Wolf Creek Pass

Great pictures. Beautiful area and outstanding citizens. My brother was driving down the mountain one night at Southfork near you, hit gravel and went over the side. It was deer season but little possibility of ever being found. He managed to get out of his car and tried to make his way back up to the road. He heard a car coming but he was too weak to make it up to hail them. He threw his jacket and it was caught in the car's headlights. The driver stopped, helped him, pulled his car back up, took him to their house, treated him, fed him and let him stay there until fully recovered. http://www.wolfcreekanglers.com

Wow, lucky guy. There have been so many trucks go over the edge at the lookout (3 or so in the last several months) that they have now put up barriers so a truck can not go into the overlook parking lot. Not sure if the overlook will stay open for cars to stop or not. The way the barriers are up, I don't know how traffic will be able to turn in going west....

Beautiful scenes. I had always wanted to drive that road, but I was disappointed when I finally did. The bark beetles had been very busy. But in your images the forest looks healthy.

Yes, the many pines are dead. We just went to Jasper Canada and their trees are getting hit now also.

- A great shot of a view dear to my heart.
As for the truck load of Chickens now you are hitting close to my heart -having been born in Pagosa Springs I have many memories of that valley view as it was the home of one family ranch and yes- also a cousin was foreman/manager of a large ranch there for many years - two of the family laughs are #1 the snow shed in the Song/syory is on the opposite side of the pass and #2 my uncle Ben owned that feed store in Pagosa at one time.

Here is the song/ story https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vST6hVRj2A

Yes, he came right out of the bushes, not expecting me, but not overly concerned either!
