Thank you, Pat. I enjoy seeing new places, meeting new people and eating new food. Gotta do it while we still can.

Y'all may get tired of my rocks. I found this natural stone in Custer State Park, no doubt left over from the Ice Age and glacial action by the looks of its polished surfaces. Probably had been buried for years but through freeze/thaw cycles, it got pushed back up to the surface by moisture that would pool beneath it. And here this 16 inch marvel from the ice age lays all by itself in the middle of a prairie with no others close by.

The lichen has taken a liking to it.

More things made of rock.

A lot of Cathedrals frown on taking photos inside. Had to check my tripod at the door.
Durham Cathedral's ancient cloisters doubled as a film location for Hogwarts in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone back in 2001.

Have you ever wondered if someone thousand of years ago thought about what people would say or think after they made a pile of rocks stick up in the air?

The Midwest was at one time the bottom of a sea which produced a lot of fossil rocks like this. This one is about 200 pounds.

pg. 14 - Gorgeous set, Sue!

This series really does a great job of showing the
strata in these formations...and tell that guy to
move away from the edge!

"That guy" is my husband - my heart was in my throat the whole time he was out there - at one point he was closer to the edge than that!

Alnwick Castle, Northumberland. Used for some of the exterior shots of Hogwarts Castle in both Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Alnwick Castle is the setting where Harry and his classmates took their flying lessons with Madame Hooch.

If your bad you wound up in the hole and probably forgotten.

Taken from a long way up. Greenland Glacier.

Fascinating collection, Steve! Enjoyed the history, too! That castle is on my bucket list!!!

pg. 17

I was wondering when you'd post pictures of your trip! Was the Flodden Wall shot taken on the Greyfriar's side of the wall? Eleven months and counting for our next trip, Lord willing! It's interesting that the grave stones in the Borders are at least twice the size of those in the highlands.
