This is the Forty Mile Point Lighthouse just west of Rogers City, Michigan on Lake Huron. Very windy & cold on this day last week.
Just to the left (West) down the shoreline is a portion of the wreck of the Joseph S. Fay that broke up in a storm here on October 17, 1905. It was a wooden steamer built in 1871 at Cleveland, Ohio. A large portion of the starboard side is still sitting on the beach 113 years later. It's hard to believe that it has been pounded by the crashing waves for that long and also from the ice in the winter. The lower hull sits in shallow water, not far from shore.

I enjoyed these images.
Thanks for looking, Karin. The "Fay" was headed from Escanaba, MI to Ashtabula, OH carrying a full load of iron ore when it broke up.
Pure Michigan! Nice set thanks for sharing
