Vietnam Trip Lens Kit?

A newbie here, but have been reading the digest for a few years. Planning a trip to Vietnam in March and wondering what lenses to bring? I'm shooting with a Canon EOS 5D MarkIV. All my lenses are Canon. I have a 35mm, 24-70mm, 24-105mm, 50mm, 100mm, 100-400mm and a 200-400mm. Traveling to Hanoi, Hoi An, Saigon, Siem Reap and 4 nights down the Mekong Delta. Lots of cityscapes, people and landscapes. What about a tripod? I'm thinking the 35mm,the 50mm and the 24-105, but do I need anything longer- for shooting off the boat on the river portion? I carried a 7.62mm and a 5.56mm back in the day but a I would think the 24-105 might be all you need (90-95% of the time) and maybe the 35mm for street scenes in Hanoi/Saigon, travel light. Just came back from a 3 week trip to Austria and Germany and the 18-135 was used about 98% of the time....enjoy. Been thinking of going back but not on my bucket list

why not the 24-105 and 100-400 and just cover everything with only 2 lenses? you'll be regretting not having reach and if anyone has to ask if a tripod is necessary, then I rest my case taking primes other than maybe a pocket lens? .... have a safe passage and at least take a monopod or a table tripod, for any lens you do decide taking ...your camera is not some forgiving over compensating save the day piece of gear and actually requires a little mastery technique wise, especially for above average results ..so support is more vital to your results as I see it than any lens....

I was there 1 year ago in a photo workshop. I brought much too much. I used an Olympus micro 4/3 with a 12-100 (24-200 equiv) routinely. Never touched the primes. Built in stabilization negated need for support, even at 1/6 sec. ISO mostly 200 days.

The one lens you will wish you had is a wide angle, say a 10 or 11-20 or 24. The cities are very crowded and a wide angle will allow you to get great photos of buildings, etc. you will also want it for landscapes. I didn’t own one when I went to Vietnam and regretted it. Btw, I took my 35 mm and never used it. My 10-200 covered everything. Have a great trip. It’s a beautiful country.

M-16 would be my choice. I wouldn't go back on a bet. I was offered a free trip and I declined.

Get yourself a Tamron 18-400 zoom, leave the rest at home. It’s the only lens you will need. It has excellent image quality and very fast focus.. trust me on this one.

That's the one thing in Vietnam that if you taking pictures of kids nobody thinks that you have bad intention. Doing it in the US without asking you're asking for trouble.

I'm sure I will over pack as well- just trying to narrow down what people think? I will also be doing a 1 day private photo workshop in Hoi An and the instructor said he mostly shoots with primes- like the 35mm. Interesting!
