I didn't know they were discontinuing publication. I have a lifetime subscription! Back in the 1970's, they wanted to ramp up a publication similar to the original Shutterbug Magazine, but for Computers. To generate cash for the startup, they offered lifetime subscriptions to Shutterbug for $100. I took it. I guess I got my money's worth, although they "forgot" me for a year or two. Too bad. Very few of you on here will remember Shutterbug tried a twice-monthly publication schedule for a time, but it was short-lived.

You should call OUTDOOR PHOTOGRAPHER who picked up Shutterbug's debt and has honored their subscribers. 1-800-283-4410

I knew that "Shutterbug" was ending and was lazy about trying to get my money back for the balance of the subscription. Today I received "Sound & Vision" magazine. When I went to the web site I found it was a sister publication to "Shutterbug." I called the 800 number, was told my subscription was a "transfer" (from Shutterbug). This magazine and the other sister magazines are all about audio, so I finally cancelled. The customer service representative was very pleasant and accommodating.
Just a heads up. It is a shame the way print is dying; sign of the times.

I did not reply either, but they replaced my subscription with Outdoor Photographer!

Interesting that yours was changed to Sound & Vision when mine was transferred to Outdoor Photographer.
Mine too and on the first inside page was info that if you weren't happy you could contact them for a full refund on your remaining subscription. As I have one year left I will look at this magazine and see what it has to offer.
I had been an Outdoor Photography subscriber, but wasn't impressed and cancelled. It was a transfer from some other discontinued photo magazine. Now I am a subscriber again.
I got the Outdoor Photo replacements but am also getting a monthly e-magazine from Shutterbug called S shutterbug.
I can't find a number for Sound/Vision. bob. Please share the number you found. Thanks!
Yea I bet they sound really really good Mike
I think I received Popular Science when Shutterbug died. Of interest to those who receive Outdoor Photographer, it sure seems to me that it, too, is about to fold. It is getting thinner and thinner and they are asking for renewals through many mediums. I enjoy the magazine but it is not likely to continue for long, I fear.

I went back to what I thought was the same web site as yesterday and could not find the number.
Xfinity says that I called (800) 264-9872 at about the right time. Try that number.
Bigotry, biases, hatred, intolerance, prejudice. Using leadins like; maybe, could be, a possibility, there might be. You pick a side, it's all the same.
I was raised on photography magazines- all kinds of them- consumer, professional journals, foreign and domestic- I loved to read them all. Sure I miss them but not the most recent offerings. Toward the end of the run there were less in-depth, how-to and articles to stimulate creativity and resourcefulness. Many of them thinned out and were mostly advertisements and "mail order catalogues" for the big box stores and the other mail-order outlets. Nothin' wrong with advertising, after all I make my living shooting pictures for ads but how about a decent ratio of editorial content? Well, at least the ads let us know what's the latest and greatest if we haven't heard it on the grape vine as yet.
As a kid, I remember reading articles BY and about top photographers in Popular Photography Magazine- folks like Peter Gowland, Philippe Halsman, Eisendrath, Arthur Rothstein, Richard Avadon, Harry Garfield, Ansel Adams, Fritz Henle, Helmut Newton, Yousuf Karsh, David Douglas Duncan, Weegee, Edward Steichen, Robert Capa, Joe Rosenthal, Margaret Bourke White, and many others. There were behind the scenes spreads on Life Magazine's photo staff and their amazing darkrooms and a 5 pager on how the crew at Sports Illustrated works. Modern Photogray didn't just review cameras and lenses, they DISSECTED them in their lab and published honest reports- despite their advertisers. SHUTTERBUG started out as a buy and sell kida newsprint publication and morphed into a glossy magazine- mainly equipment oriented at first. The did, however evolve to a more creative and artistically based mag and had some good working photographers as writers. Anyone remember GROSSBILD TECHNIK- a masterpiece of a magazine on large format photography published in Germany? I still get the Rangefinder and the P.P.of A mag but those are mostly business stuff. I lost track of the Photo District News- are they still publishing?
What I miss most, out of nostalgia, is the DIY projects that were written up in Petersen's Photographic- great for improvising gear and of course, the antithesis of promoting expensive stuff. Sometimes younger folks trying to get started in photography could put together some neat projects to augment their equipment and not break the bank. U.S. camera also had DIY column- I made my first "Portrait Soft Light" out of an aluminum dishpan and 5 porcelain lamp sockets- it worked! OK- so the lens shade made out of the business end of a black toilet plunger was not too fashionable but it did prevent flare!
So...Photography is my job but audio is my hobby. Sadly, a $10,000 speaker system is out of my budget, especially since I would need 9 of them for my current amplifier! So that would surely mess up the finances! This alos precludes a surround sound system that would fill Radio City Music Hall- totally out of the budget! In the olden days, the audio magazine featured articles on how to get the best stereo image from a low or moderately priced system. Perhaps that's one of the the problems and why the printed technical magazine industry is declining- too much hard sell and not enough decent content.
Well- the other day I went to my favorite magazine shop and alas, it was gone! A coffee shop move into the store, virtually overnight, and there were folks in there glued to their devices and poking at their laptops- nobody reads anymore- not even a newspaper in sight! My second favorite mag shop had a very thin selection. So sad- I just took the magazine rack out of the bathroom! House rule- no electronics in the latrine- it's the only room in the house that's sacrosanct!

The same thing happened to me when Popular Photography died. I got a notice in the mail telling me of the magazine's demise and informing me that in place of it they would be sending Popular Science for the duration of the subscription. There have been a few good articles that I've read, but I subscribed to a photography magazine. Popular Photography wasn't the greatest magazine, but I feel their content faltered after Bonnier took over as publisher. It's sad to see Shutterfly is now among the fallen.

When I got my latest issue of Outdoor Photographer, I saw the item about Shutterbug subscriptions being converted to OP subscriptions. So, I sent OP an e-mail and asked if my Shutterbug subscription could be transferred. Today I received a reply which said that only those who were not already OP subscribers were given the OP subscription. The e-mail suggested I contact AVTechClient@EmailCustomerService.com. The e-mail didn't say what to contact them about. I hope it's to get a refund. Ironically, the same day I sent OP my e-mail, I got a copy of Sound and Vision in the mail. Nice magazine, but I really can't use it either.
