Paul, another excellent set of photos along with the history of the L lens designs. If I had the dollars a 500mm would be in the cards. Thank you one more time and a High Five for this post is a must for me.

Thank you Greg! The only other use I've made of the weekend rentals of the 500L is a trip out to our Brookfield Zoo. But, those were all at 500mm where I've been scouring the LR catalog for work with extenders. The 500L will fit in a backpack I have, but it is a rather unwieldy piece of equipment. Although, after seeing Canon has started a Series III update to these lenses. I've been developing schemes to bring one inhouse sometime in the future.

[quote=CHG_CANON]The Chicago Air & Water Show is a free event that showcases daredevil pilots, parachute teams, and military performance teams flying jets in tight formation, as well as water rescue demonstrations. The show has been held annually since 1959. In the event's 2nd year, the US Air Force Thunderbirds and US Army Golden Knights Parachute Team were added to the show. The US Navy Blue Angels and Air Force Thunderbirds now alternate their annual participation at the event.

I again enjoyed your shots. In addition to the quality of the pictures I like the way you give some background information on the subject and also the technical information about how how you took the shot. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

You captures are always fantastic. I would like to know; are you in the air also or are you shooting from the ground?

Thank you Dave! All images were captured from the ground with the 500L mounted to a gimbal head on a tripod stationed at the water's edge on the shore of Lake Michigan in Chicago.

These photos have been captured beautifully and skillfully. So sharp, retaining the true colors. For me, these photos are very expensive

LOL and thank you Mubashm! The expensiveness of the lens was avoided by using short-term rentals for the specific events. Glad you enjoyed.
