Pileated Woodpecker - female (Hylatomus pileatus)
W. Kentucky, USA - 10/12/2018
1/400 sec - f/8.0 - ISO 400
Interesting Tidbit: The Pileated Woodpecker is one of the biggest, most striking forest birds on the continent.
It's nearly the size of a crow. This woodpecker is monogamous and territorial, and, as it is a non-migratory
bird, pairs will defend their large territory year-round. The male is slightly heavier than the female and has
a red moustache-like marking on its face.
PILEATED (Woodpecker) - PIE-lee-ay-tid, PILL-ee-ay-tid (having a pileus or cap).

Very nice shot. One of the best I've ever seen of this woodpecker.
