Great reply Robert.
If you don't like or understand this image then you should give up photography- Really?

Well, liking different "styles" is a matter of taste. And not liking this (I don't particularly like it but see things some would love in it.) doesn't mean you should give up photography. Or be so elitist as to set yourself up to make that judgement on another person.
There are a lot of photo styles I could not care less about that some people swear are gifts from God.
And yes, long ago I took a few Art History classes and there were/are styles/schools that different people in the class loved and others they didn't care about or even disliked. And all of these were things (painting, building styles, photography etc) that were deemed worthy of being in the text books and class material for a college level Art History course.
"If it has to be explained, then it didn't work, at least for the current audience." Of course some people take great pride in being part of the in crowd that "get" the message of the art. Makes them feel part of the elite. And some I have known when asked to explain some art work they were gushing about couldn't do it. They were gushing because the "true artistes" said it was great.
First off, congrats on the recognition Bob. br br... (
