That's very neat, but, since the resting pulse rate of a hummer is around 400 beats/minute, I don't think your rubbing of it should be construed as effective CPR! I'm sure it was comforting though! ;-)

A bird in the hand is worth two near the feeder.
I had a similar incident when our cat, TV, brought a live sparrow home in her mouth. She dropped it at my feet. I quickly grabbed it and took it outside where it flew off after a few minutes. TV never brought me a gift again.
