Suggestions on landscape photo sites, hikes, including off the beaten path, appreciated.

My list includes Cades Cove, Laurel falls, Alum Cave Bluffs, Clingmans Dome, Grotto falls, Spruce Flats falls, but looking to find any 'hidden gem'.

Thanks.

Not a bad view anywhere in that area. I enjoy heading back into the Great Smokey Mountain National Park....toward Cherokee. There are streams and all sorts of images to capture. The Blue Ridge Parkway has breathtaking views. The areas you have listed are indeed outstanding as well. I'm guessing that most of the 'fall colors' will be past their prime in November. Enjoy the cool, clean mountain air.

Thanks, Yes, fall colors gone or washed out, but harvesting corn/beans takes priority!

Just outside the park off of I-40 in the Pisque National Forest is Max Patch Bald. It is breathtaking at sunset time! Lots of wild flowers. It is easy to access via a good forest road. All of the other places you mentioned are wonderful also. Actually, I am here at our place now and about yo get out with my camera!

Your list and the suggestions mentioned above are good ones. I've been to Max Patch several times and it is well worth the time to go there. Last weekend, for the first time, I went to Look Rock Viewing Platform which is on the Foothills Parkway. The hike from the parking lot to the tower is 0.5 miles and is paved. I went at night to capture some star shots. Though I can't upload any images from where I am now, here is a link to one of the pictures I took which is posted on Facebook.

You might also venture into the North Carolina side of the park where there are elk. The best place to go for that is probably the Oconaluftee Visitor's Center.

Depending on how much hiking you are up for, there are 900 miles of trails in the park.

If you like birds, right outside of Dolly Parton's amusement park is a place called Parrot World, maybe that is Parrot Mountain. (???).

It's a place where you can really get up close a personal with lots of colorful parrots.

Don’t forget to take in the sights of Main St...that’s probably not the name but I’m referring to the main drag that leads to the park entrance in Gatlinburg...every one should have this experience at least once in their life.

Slightly farther afield, and to the south at the Dragon(USHwy 129, the Cherohala Skyway, and Bald River Falls. From Cades Cove, Rich Mountain Road, and Prsons Branch Rd (which leads to the Dragon). And FootHills Parkway.

Avoid the weekend. Consider going to Asheville and up the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is 300 miles and so traffic thin. If it's cloudy, forget the BR Parkway because you'll be driving in the fog of the clouds.

A whistful reply: but I have had great fun taking photos of people looking at knives at the Gatlinburg knife store (biggest in the world, they claim). An amazing array
and shooting a good old boy fondling a samurai sword is a great shot. I guess you don't want to get such a person mad for being photographed, what with the sharp edges and all.
