I have a Nikon D750 with a Nikon MB-D16 multi-battery power pack. In the Custom Setting Menu, Option D-12, I can specify which batter to use first -- D750 or MB-D16. I went out for some night shots on Sunday. Given that I would be using a lot of long exposures, I decided to attach the battery pack and the set battery order to use MB-D16 first. When I came home, I removed the battery pack from the camera and turned on the camera to peek at some of the shots. It was then I noticed the in-camera battery was very low. I turned the camera off, removed the battery from the camera, took the battery from the MB-D16, inserted it into the camera and turned the camera on. The battery from the MB-D16 was fully charged.
What did I do wrong?

Nothing that I can think of. I have a D7200 with the MB-D15 and is set to use the MB-D15 first, and it does. My guess is that there might be a problem with the MB-D16. Try removing the camera battery and and see if it (camera) detects the MB-D15. On the D7200 if you push the info button both batteries should appear. The one not in use will be grayed out, but show charge state.
Hope this helps.

Is it possible that after selecting battery order you didn't press OK or press the multi-selector to the right?
If you select Battery Info from the Setup Menu it will show you the charge status of each battery.
I seldom charge the camera battery because it's easier to just use the grip batteries which usually last a full day.

Thanks folks. It's the first time I've used the battery power pack so I didn't know about the info display showing one highlighted and one greyed out battery. I did make sure the battery order selection showed MB-D16. However, when I tokk the battery out, I noticed it was a bit loose. I then put it in again and heard a "click", locking it in place. So it's highly likely I did not have it seated properly. I'll be sure to check next time.

That sounds like the fix.
