My daughter came in from the front yard yesterday and said she was stung while opening the front gate to take out the car. I told her I would take care of it. The culprits turned out to be a yellowjacket's nest right beside the entrance of the gate. So I spent several tricky hours gathering shots of the residents. The setup was strategically deployed without me obtaining any attacks. I will be writing a blog article about how to capture insects like this soon. I am due for another Wildlife Photography Tip on my Naturescamera blog site. Enjoy. Oh, by the way, I will be taking care of the nest later this evening.
Wonderful in-flight shots!

David, excellent set as always. The last one is great and the Yellowjacket seems to have a smile on his face.

Thanks Earl. I have been quite busy lately. It was nice to take several hours and devote them to this more complicated wildlife project.

Thanks Greg. I will be doing some astrophotography out in the desert at the beginning of next month. Cold at night, but hopefully clear skies.

Thanks. You are very right. Navigating the perimeter of the hive with closeup camera gear and lighting without getting stung was the biggest challenge. Also working at ground level has its challenges.
