After just one completely ruined fine printer, I quickly learned that the maker’s original printer inks are the only ones to employ. There are no third party suppliers whose inks are truly reliable.

Have used LD ink in my Canon Pro 100. No problems and excellent results. Paid $54.00 for the set of 8 colors. OEM costs more than double.

It's been hit or miss for me, but I recently got some from EZink, and that's good.

I'm going the DIY route, though. The cost is negligible, and the results have been excellent.

For those of you that use 3rd party ink cartridges in your small printers, who do you feel has the best quality? Not only in results but in performance. I have ordered a Canon TS 9020 to replace my present Canon MG 6220. This printer provided wonderful results on 8x10 prints until a 3rd party ink cartridge clogged the print head. I have had really great results from 3rd party inks in the past but not sure where they were purchased from. I prefer 3rd party inks if possible due to costs.

I appreciate you input.

You get what You pay for. I have 3 Canon printers and have always used Canon ink cartridges without any problems. If a 3rd party cartridge cuts loose inside Your printer You are usually looking at buying a new printer. So, which way is less costly in the long run?

Try Carrot Ink or Inkjets. I believe it is really the same company. They only sell cartrodges, not bulk ink. No clogging problem after 5 years of use.

I have had great success with cheaper ink. I have purchased for years from gotink4u in New Hampshire. Once I had a problem and I called them and they said, "run your cleaning program", and that solved my problem. I bought a couple times from Amazon when what I needed was unavailable and that worked too. I use Canon printers for the last several years. I don't print much but I do print often.

About half of the responses you will get tell you to never use anything but OEM inks. They forget that sometimes printers just have problems regardless of ink manufacturer. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that many printer manufacturers buy their ink elsewhere. I do not expect an inkjet printer to last much longer than 3-4 years just due to the use environment and design. Depending on how much you print, the savings from generic ink will more then pay for a new printer or two.
I have had good luck with LD products. Full disclosure, everything I print is for my personal use. I have my photos printed in a lab that knows what they are doing and has the time and resources to maintain their equipment.

I use 4INKJETS in both of my CANON printers MG6320 and PRO-100 and have not had any problems in either.

Fuzzy, you'll hear a lot of 'stick with the manufacturere's ink', which of course is good advice. I did for years, but three years ago tried ink from www.499inks.com and have used theirs ever since. Very pleased, and not a single problem with my printer, (so far:o) Three years and going strong.

For what it's worth LD inks is my choice. If a cartridge fails for whatever reason, they are quick to respond with a new cartridge. Many printers use cartridges with built in ink heads. Some come with easily replaceable print heads. Appears many "hoggers" are happy.

I've used Precision Colors inks in my two Pro-10s for over a year, and have made more than 1,000 prints between 'em without a single hiccup. Reduced my ink cost per print from 68 cents to 9 cents. I had the same print volume for the first year I had the printers and used OEM inks (which is where I came up with the per-print cost) and saved a lot of the empty carts. Just in case, as I had been refilling carts for the printers that the Canons replaced for many years.

When I added up the cost of OEM inks after the first year's production, I determined that even if the 3d party inks destroyed the printers eventually, if I could get a year's production out of 'em I could buy new printers with the savings and still come out ahead. Luckily, it seems like that won't be needed.

It looks like Precision Colors makes ink for the 9020. http://www.precisioncolors.com/C6Eb.html Do look at the discussion about cartridges - the Pro-10 OEM carts can have their chips reset when you refill them, but it doesn't look like the 9020 carts can. But there appear to be 3d party carts available for the 9020 with resettable chips.

At some print volume the cost savings will make it worth using third party inks. Only you can determine what that volume is.

I also recommend Precision Colors. Robertjerl suggested them well over a year ago. I haven't done a specific cost breakdown; however, my Epson 1430 uses 6 cartridges, and I just completed the 6th refill with the original $100 purchase, thus my total costs are about $4.15 per cartridge. A polite request at your next doctor visit will get you 3 or 4 vinyl gloves to use when refilling. I too have let the printer set for several weeks and then got excellent prints when restarted. I would challenge anyone to tell the difference between pictures printed with Epson inks and Precision Colors ink.

I have left my Canon Pro-10s idle for several MONTHS and their first prints were perfect. Now these printers apparently have some sort of clock and memory of usage, so when I first turned them on after months of being idle they went through quite a period of shaking the cartridges back and forth before they fed paper and started to print. And maybe they did some head squirts on a maintenance pad to get the nozzles all working again. Whatever the process, they worked perfectly after sitting for a long time. Something that the Epsons they replaced NEVER did.
