Lightroom Tether D7500

I purchased a Nikon D7500 and I also ordered a new MacBook pro. I am excited to use the tethering feature on the 7500 as I could not use it with my previous camera (Nikon D3300). I was trying to tether to my iMac today (Newer 2015 27" Imac) and Lightroom will not recognize my D7500. I am worried that I will not be able to tether to my new laptop when it comes in. On the Adobe website it says that Lightroom tethering works for the 7500 with Lightroom version 7? I pay the monthly fee for Lightroom/Photoshop so my version should be up to date.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don't know what procedure you are using but this should work for you.

Plug it into both devices and turn on your camera.
Open desired Lightroom catalog in which you want to import your photographs as you capture them.
Choose “Start Tethered Capture…” from File->Tethered Capture menu.

I've tethered several cameras with Lightroom seamlessly. You could try another USB cable if all else fails.

I see the D7500 works in LR 6.12 --->

Exactly the process I used. Lightroom says "No camera detected". Tried 2 different cables.

This may be little help, but might identify what may or may not be wrong. Download a free trial of CaptureOne 11 and see if your camera is recognized. I use that exclusively for tethering.

Maybe I'm just not understanding the big deal about "tethering" your camera. What is wrong with what you were doing??

You do realize that Lightroom has a technical support number? When you call a tech person will hold your hand and completely walk you through what you need to do. They will problem-solve with you. They often will do a screen share. That is what your subscription pays for. 800/833-6687 Good luck! ~ Eileen

Unless you call at the right time, you like sitting on hold forever waiting for an operator. Adobe Chat is faster, but not by much

Thank you. I actually never thought of that. So used to not having this option with so many other things I buy! I will give it a shot.

By the way - I upgraded recently to the newest version of LR and now tethering works.
