Lightroom 6 development is FROZEN as of 1/1/2018. No more updates after that point. It is ABANDONWARE.

It is replaced by Lightroom CLASSIC CC 2018, which also replaces Lightroom CC 2015.

Adobe also replaced Lightroom MOBILE with the NEW Lightroom CC 2018.

That's right, they deliberately confused their customers by renaming everything. They want to sell their cloud space, which Lightroom CC 2018 requires. You can run CLASSIC just like the old LR 6.

I've been a CC subscriber for a few years. It is a GREAT deal for what you pay ($10/month or $120/year).

Lots of folks bitch about Adobe going all subscription, all the time, but they'll spend $2000 to $7500 on a camera and thousands more on lenses, yet they aren't willing to give up two cups of Starbucks, or a lunch, or a bottle of cheap wine, so they can run some of the finest software out there. Besides, the Bundle includes BOTH Lightroom apps, plus the FULL VERSION of Photoshop CC 2018 AND Bridge.

Another way to put it is that new one has been out for sometime. LR6 got some updates for RAW shooting in new cameras and some bug fixes. LR CC (now LR Classic CC) gradually got upgrades like a few new tools, mobile connectivity and even a speed improvement.

well I for one don't like the idea of paying for a program year after year, I would rather buy mine and not be forced into buying cloud space, maybe if everyone stops they will lose out on some $$ and go back to what it was before all this cloud crap. Just sayin, but thank you.

There are so many choices for people that don't like the $10 plan.

That said, Lightroom 5 still works. Lightroom 6 still works. Adobe provides the DNG converter for free to anybody that wants to use any LR they have paid for.

$10 a month is less than one percent of the average social security check. Mine is a little higher than average so I don't miss the $10 at all. If I did, I would find somewhere else to cut back. A big part of the fun in my retirement years are my photographic and videographic projects. How can anyone complain when it is less than 1% of the SS benefit.

"They broke my heart"

Really? I sincerely hope not. With due respect, matters of the heart need to go beyond Lightroom!

Hopefully by now LR 6 doesn't have any more bugs to fix. My CS5 has been working flawlessly for years with the help of DNG. I know there are lots of new features that are added, but for folks who want to just tweak their images, rather than make them into something else, the upgrade may be a waste of money. If in the future I find a need for the PS subscription I will get the latest and greatest and will have saved $120 a year in the meantime. And that is assuming that PS is the greatest. You can get to be the most popular without necessarily being the best. Choice is good.

Please understand that you never have owned software! Read the EULA - the end user *license* agreement.

Also, consider the costs of version upgrades. Photoshop alone used to cost far more to use over a decade’s time than the Bundle costs, even if you only got every other upgrade. Now you get FOUR programs for $120/year...

LR5 is over four years old. That’s ancient history in the world of computing. It’s been abandonware for 2-1/2 years.
