I decided to buy a Fuji X-T2 (an x-mount in the Fuji lens system). The camera is APS-C (cropped sensor).
People say great things about the kit lens. But, it opens only to f/2.8. On my Leica D-Lux 6, I have long been accustomed to f/1.7. I would like to go even more open than that, with my new system, since I am taking this opportunity to spend money.
What do you recommend? I have my eye on the Fuji 23 (effectively 35)mm f/1.4, which stops down to f/16.
I don't want to go too wide-angle because I don't like seeing everything tilted and leaning. 23/35 is enough for me.
I don't want to save a bit of money and have chronic problems with color or other aberrations that sneak in with cheaper lenses. So I am not keen about 7artisans or Kalimar. But what about Rokinon? They seem to get positive reviews, and have a 21mm f/1.4, which stops all the way down to f/22. The f/1.4 would move me in the direction I want. Of course versatility in the other direction is also good.
Any advice about navigating the Fuji lens landscape would be appreciated. I decided that shooting quietly is important so I don't want a mirror slapping sounds. DSLR is out for me.
You might want to consider Fuji’s 35mm f/1.4 - a sharp, fast lens with a more ‘normal’ field of view - and no distortion.

The 35mm FF field of view is a favorite
with many users, and has been for multi
generations, especially f/2 or faster. So
you can hardly go wrong with your idea
of the 23/1.4. Just get it.

I decided on the Fujinon XF 16mm f/1.4 R WR. On a YouTube channel called "Denae & Andrew", a video titled "FUJI 16mm 1.4 - MY FAVORITE LENS EVER" was a big help. It shows everything I typically do with my D-Lux 6, so I will, I think, be quite happy. Thanks for your input!!!
Um, me thinks the aps-c sized sensor will far surpass your expectations over the 1/1.7" sized sensor. That said, most of the Fuji glass is really nice.
Fuji is known for their lenses even their kit lenses.
BTW their lenses are on sale now.
Have been using the Fuji X system for four years (X100S, X-T1 and X-T2) and never used a Fuji XF lens I didn't like; they are all superb performers. In the X-T2, go to the menu and turn on the LMO (Lens Modulation Optimizer). This will make in camera lens corrections in your jpeg images. Also be sure you have the latest Fuji firmware for both X-T2 and your Fuji lenses. Fuji website will show you how to install the firmware and give you the downloads. You will love the Fuji X system.
Does each lens need firmware updates? Is there a separate connection to computer for that, or does the camera body feed firmware to the lens?

camera body feeds the lens the firmware.
FYI- maybe I should be embarrassed to note this but...
I just did the Fuji update. It took me several times to get it right because my Apple computer tagged a number to the downloaded file (" -1. " ).Thinking there was something wrong with the downloaded file, I downloaded it again ("-2.") and then a third time ("-3.") When I copied the file to the memory card and inserted the card in the camera, the camera did not recognize the file and I got an error message- several times until I figured out the problem. After removing the extra number all went fine. The auto continuous focus (video) is much improved after the upgrade.

I purchased a "like new" X-T2 about three weeks ago and it needed the most recent firmware update. I also use MacBook Pro. I remember when reading the instructions it said something about if there was a number in the filename to edit it out however when I looked at the downloaded update file the unwanted number was not there so guess I lucked out.
Fuji glass is exceptional! I would go with the 23mm.
