Where does the money go? From your pocket into the bank accounts of the top 10% who can't possibly spend a small fraction of it and so they invest it in ways that siphon more out of your pocket into their bank accounts.

Let's see 7 billion people, we spend $5 trillion, seems like we should be able to make every one a millionair and still have plenty of money left over, I know it doesn't work that way.

Larry, that's the best use of math ever used on the forum! Go to the head of the class!

months later which is still down as of this day, reason
being lack of funds, so instead of using the money to restore these two bridges they took another bridge out

WOODY ........................
If I am not mistaken, that Billion Dollars, spent every eight hours is how much, OVER budget, we are spending. We are going in debt, at over Four Billion Dollars a day.
Please correct me, if I am wrong. I, certainly, hope so !
Something else to remember that One Trillion is ONE THOUSAND times a Billion !
FOUR MORE YEARS ? God help us !

You are both right and wrong, the number is just over 3 billion a day, not that that should give you much solace.

Then you need to write your Republican Governor and tell him to accept the money from the government. He has toed the Republican party line and refused the funding offered because accepting it would in some way paint the current administration as friend of the state. The Republican Central Command has issued orders to all of its elected personnel not to do ANYTHING that would shed a positive light on the current administration. What that means to you in Louisiana is that YOU suffer at the expense of the political career of your governor.

John Foster Dulles, (He was a Republican Senator in the 1940's and 50's for you youngsters.)was once speaking about the budget. "A billion here, a billoin there. Pretty soon we're tlaking about real money".

Several corrections to your post:

Dulles was only a senator from July to November of 1949.

He served as Secretary of State under Eisenhower from 1953 until his death in 1959.

The quote you referenced was actually made by Illinois Senator Everett Dirksen.

Let's not get sloppy with our history. :D

You are very correct and I am very incorrect. butI had the quote right. In my defense I was 12 in 1949 and didn't pay close attention to politics.

And look how the regime has painted Arizona with the hate brush - sued it, withheld funds, refused to police the borders. Loathing this president needs to be a fulltime career; he's earned it.

Just for grins and giggles I wanted to find out when Dirkson actually said that line. I found the Dirksen Center online and there was a lengthy article about the history of that quote. It turns out there's no proof that he ever actually said it. He personally denied ever having said it but he fully took credit for it. Another urban legend put to rest. :-D

Here's the link for anyone who's interested.

We are THEY. If WE quit voting Dem/Rep into office and start looking at nonpoliticans to run this country WE will be better off. The Politicans look out for themselves and their friends. WE need to change the way elections are run so MONEY does NOT buy the election. I'm just sayin.........
