I took this a few weeks ago. Tonight, I wanted to edit it differently, sticking a little less to the colors I saw, and brightening it up a bit. I am curious if it looks over cooked to others. Your thoughts on that would be appreciated. Download requested/recommended.
Sue, An excellent image. Not over cooked. Your composition is approximately 50 percent sky and 50 percent water. That makes my eye and mind to go back and forth and not rest looking at your composition. If I was creating the image I would crop about 20 percent off the sky so you can enjoy the water, lighthouse and birds without your eye going back and forth. My 2 cents.

It does not look overcooked to me although if you want my opinion the visual design needs improvement. The horizon line practically divides the image in the middle.
It is a beautiful shot.
Thank you, no argument from Me. I actually chose it from many I had taken that day simply to experiment with it. It is not a bad composition, but you are right, it is not ideal.

As I just mentioned in my last reply, I agree with that on the composition. It was one of many I decided to color edit heavier than normal, after seeing other photographers work where I realized the original could not have looked as it was presented. I have always tried to bring out what the eye saw, kind of thing.
With that said, here is a crop of that photo, taking out more of the sky. However, it loses some of that blue in the sky, which I believe added to the photo. If I remove more from the bottom, then good elements are lost there. I think this is one of those shots that cannot be brought to the idea., from the elements given and the limitations of choices I made prior to hitting the shutter button.
It looks quite real and nice.

That is a nice shot. I don't think it looks over processed.

Thank you. It seems it does not look over processed to most, although a few realized it was not the "real" colors of the moment, but seems to be acceptable overall.
Looks fine to me. You did a nice job.
