Microsoft is Dumping DiskCleanup

It seems that DiskCleanup is headed toward the exit. I just used it on my three internal drives, and there was basically nothing to clean up, anyway.

I've used CCleaner for years and it's a much better program than Disk Cleanup. I won't miss Disk Cleanup at all.

Yes, I like that, but I don't like it getting of cookies. That just makes it more difficult signing back onto web sites.

I have used Disk Cleanup, deleted programs plus several files and permanently everything in the recycle bin . When I check C drive the available space does not increase. What else should I do?

Do a search for duplicate files and remove. It can be painful, but look at what is in C drive, maybe some you can look at and know whether you need them or not, I always drop all the crap they sneak every time the system performs an auto-update.

Don't forget to empty the Recycle Bin.

I had been noticing that DiskCleanup was freezing up occasionally, so I switched to Wise Disk Cleaner which works faster and has a nice defragmenting tool too. Left over Windows Update files waste a lot of space.

Under the "Windows" tab you have the option of keeping or removing cookies. If you want to delete cookies, put a check mark in the box that says "cookies". If you want to keep the cookies, don't put a check mark in the box for that option.

I've used CCleaner for a long time, also. The thing that annoys me about it is every three or four weeks or so I get a notice from them that a new update is available and I should download it. Is it necessary for them to update it that often? Maybe it's easily hacked and they have to install a patch for it. Or not. Maybe it's something else.

I just used it. It's already installed in Windows 10, and works just about the same. Just slightly harder to find.

The new update is them simply trying to sell you the "upgraded" paid version. I ignore them, find that if I use it weekly everything runs fairly quick and easy, and dump a lot of crap.

Wise Disk Cleaner is free and has no ads. Works just great too.
