Canon repair BEWARE

I just had my first bad experience with Canon. I was at the beach for a photo surf shoot, and the camera shutter just kept going off. Pulled the battery out to soft reset, no solution. Call Canon service, they tell me the same thing, no solution
They recommend sending the camera in for repair. It will be fixed and I will have a 6 month warranty. I just got it back from being refurbished, fully repaired and perfect in JANUARY! To the tune of $180. Then the see the camera is no longer supported for repair, but they offered $30 off my next purchase through them
I was livid. This is supposed to be a world class company. I expected something more like: We are so sorry to hear about this, let us apply the $180 you have already spent toward your next purchase with us".
The representative did offer a cheaper alternative than new, REFURBISHED, they come with a 6 month warranty. Felt like I have been there and done that

JUST DISGUSTED WITH CANON. BUYER BEWARE

Not trying to be stupid, but how old of a model are we talking about. No company, camera or otherwise, can support every product for ever. If have Nikon equipment that is just too old for repair, mostly due to a lack of parts. Best of luck.

How old is your camera?
Canon no longer repairs my R2000 either.
I doubt your iphone 2 is repairable as well.

You're so mad you forgot how to write in English? Your post makes no sense. It was fixed? It was not fixed? It broke again after the 6-month warranty? You read someplace it was no longer eligible for repair should there be another problem? Not that anyone should really care .... Just put it next to your Atari 2600 those cheats would never repair either.

To bad your camera reached the end of its service life. ALL cameras do!
A camera’s service life is reached(with Canon) when Canon runs out of ONE part!
That means they no longer have every part in stock. If the did a repair and they ruined that one part they are out of, they can’t repair the camera.
Your camera is as good as it is, Canon will just no longer work on it as a result of being out of ONE part! Sorry to hear that.
Hopefully it will never need a repair again!!! Good luck

Specifics, please. What Canon model? After you bought a Refurbished copy in January, how had the camera been used and cared for? In what sort of conditions was it used? Did Canon have any suggestions as to why it stopped working as expected? Canon is justifiably considered a ‘World Class’ company. I think there is more to the story here.

chg_canon. Thank you for your excellent advice and unwavering wisdom. You certainly belong on a web site

FYI and to clarify for the non English comprehension and even offer additional insight
The camera was repaired 8 months ago. They also failed to mention that in the future, they would no longer be supporting this camera
Yes, it broke after the 6 month warranty
Although you don't think anyone should care (least of all yourself) I think that a world class company should care

The post was offered to give some additional insight into Canon and their repairs. With a little luck, you will never need the repair services. But if you do, I hope that you get someone who cares as much as you and tells you to put it on the shelf next to your Atari and iPhone 2

Lower end consumer camera introduced over 8 years ago.
5 model #'s have been introduced since then.
My 10D has not been repairable for years now and when it dies it will be put on a shelf as my first digital camera.
Still using it though for work and on the beach and other such environments.

You need to provide more details. My AE-1, and T90 still work, although I don't expect repairs.

T2i, T3i, 80D no problems.

I don't expect to be able to send a letter with one of my penny red stamps either.

What, exactly is your problem?

To everyone who responded to this post as though it was posted by a complete idiot. I think We all understand that eventually most everything becomes unrepairable for one reason or another; but maybe He did not deserve such snotty replies. I don't think any of You would have appreciated those replies now would You?

How do we really know what the replies were?
I have my doubts.
