how to try Creative Cloud

I want to try Creative Cloud, but I don't see quite how to do it. The Adobe Creative Cloud manager app that places itself near the date of the computer's screen: when I click on that, there are many apps listed, most of which say "try". But how will it know that I want to try the bundle that costs $10 a month? When I go to the Adobe web site and try "buy now" the Photography Plan, will that give me a trial period? Anyone know from experience?

Before I download anything, will I be able to use *just* Lightroom and Photoshop? I don't have to bother with Camera Raw and Bridge, do I? Can't Lightroom do all photo management and tweaks, and PS for heavy lifting?

I have discovered that Capture One can't process the RAW format from my V-lux 1, and that's a deal breaker for me.

Yes, you can use only LR and PS. You don't have to use Bridge (Bridge is an interface to Windows Explorer {or whatever corresponds to Explorer on Mac }; Bridge "talks" to LR and PS).

I use LR for all photo management and tweaks and PS for some few tasks that LR doesn't do well.

You can pay for a month and then cancel, right?

I think you can use it for 7 days without paying anything. It used to be 30 days but I think they now cut it down to 7 days. Just down load the software you want. The $10 a month plan include LR and PS but you don't have to sign up for that if you want just to try for 7 days.

Thank you! I won't accidentally download anything else. I don't like the looks of LR CC. I think Classic Lightroom is what I want. And then I will learn some PS as I go.

Hi, since you are new to LR (or will be) I recommend that you read the LR help manual provided by Adobe prior to actually using the program. Specifically, read everything on the Library Module. This will save you from a disaster as you start using the program. Also, when you start create a test catalog, which will be something that you will throw away by dragging it into the trash when you are done. Use this test catalog to learn the program and only load in a small number of photos to work with. When you drag the test catalog into the trash it will not affect your photos at all. And, know where your photos sit on your hard drive as knowing this and your file structure is central to your success in LR.

Thank you so much for your comment! My public library includes access to Lynda.com, and I am watching a tutorial there.

I also recommend the Martin Evening book, hard copy or digital, his book is very detailed. He uses an A to Z approach and does not jump around like S. Kelby.

I don't think so. I think you have to commit to a year, IIRC.

You need camera raw along with LR & PS. ACR is what you use to process your images. I never downloaded Bridge.

Not to be confusing, you will need ACR to process RAW files if you don't download LR but that will automatically be included with your download of PS.

I haven't needed CR yet. So far LR seems to take in the raw images from my two cameras and make a catalog out of them.

You don't have to use Bridge - I don't. One way or the other you'll use ACR, since it's the editing engine Lightroom employs. If you use ACR with Photoshop, the user interface is similar to, but not the same as, Lightroom's Develop module.
