This event took place in Biloxi ,Ms. on September the 8th 2018. It had a 5k run and also they made five trips up 22 flights of stairs to equal the 110 stories of the twin towers buildings. This is a great event and the second year I photographed the activities. This young man asked his dad last year if he could borrow his helmet and fire coat because he wanted to climb the five sets of 22 stairs to honor the men and women that lost their lives at the twin towers in New York. He was 11 years old last year and I photographed him on his 6th trip up the 22 flights of stairs dressed like this last year. I don't know how many trips up the stairs he did this year but I photographed him on two of his climbs. I was in shorts and a t-shirt and ended up leaving the stairwell myself due to the excessive heat but he kept going. This is a picture this year at the age of 12 years old repeating his performance. I am very impressed with this young man and he did it totally on his own and by himself.
I certainly know that his family must be proud of that 'young man'.
God bless him as well as all the others in that memorable event . . .
Great kid, great photo, inspiring story.

call that young man " chief ". those coats are heavy, especially in the heat. he will go far in life with an outlook and determination like that. ten thumbs up.
Wow, that's humbling. Most 12 year olds have no idea what 911 is all about. This guys parents have done something right. And great job on the photo. Thanks for sharing.
